Kempsey Place Plan was a program funded through the Department of Community and Justice. Place Planning aims to improve community connection, develop community cohesion and plan and run community projects based on community needs. The project is aimed at residents in the social housing areas of South and West Kempsey

The Place Planning team operated out of South Kempsey Community Centre and Kempsey Neighbourhood Centre. At the end of December 2020 this program ended. Kempsey neighbourhood Centre aims to continue working in Kempsey South under the title of Kempsey South Community Project.

  • Aboriginal Women’s Group
  • After School Group at South Kempsey Community Centre


KPP has supported a number of projects throughout 2020 including:

  • Aboriginal Children’s Kayaking Project (with SDA Church)
  • Healing Hearts – One Headstone at a Time
  • Sporting Activities for Young People including Golf and Cricket
  • Booky Boots – for primary aged school children
  • School Holiday Activities including 3 o3 Basketball, Breakfast at the Skate Park and Family Activity Days
  • Leadership Group for Aboriginal Young Men
  • Parkour

Community Events:

KPP also organised or was involved in a number of events including:

  • NAIDOC Week
  • International Women’s Day Nurturing Day
  • Homelessness Week
  • It’s OK on the Macleay
